Bay Of Islands

Notice how dirty my jeans are. I rode these virtually all round new zealand without cleaning them. Now thats the way to wear a pair of jeans. Probably the best ive ever owned .... made by ripcurl.

Southland, New Zealand, January 2004

After meeting Karen and Keith in Queenstown I headed out of town towards Southland. It was a 2 to 3 hour ride and after leaving in warm sunshine I was faced with torrential rain, hail, and snow turning to blizzards. It was wierd but luckily about halfway there was a little cafe where I was able to get some hot food and warm up. The weather was truly awful but with great trepidation i headed out into the now blizzard and Tanau to find somewhere to stay. I ended up having a lovely fish n chips in cafe overlooking the fjord watching the sun down. Wow what a day.

Westworld, New Zealand, January 2004

After a very wet and eventful run down the west coast from Arthurs Pass, where i stayed the night i made for Greymouth. I met two lovely german girls here who cooked me dinner. I then rode the trusty beemer on to Franz Joseph Glacier where I camped for the night. Here i bumped into a mad kiwi bird who wanted me to give her my rugby shirt. God, she was one wierd and ugly bird!

Jackson Bay, New Zealand January 2005

The 'End of the Road', Jackson Bay, New Zealand. This is the morning after i had spend a 14 hour storm camping on the beach. I woke the next morning to find penquins and beautiful sunshine. One of the locals pulled up in his jeep shouting ' good on yer m8, we were putting bets on whether you would make it thorugh the night'. Leaving my kit to dry out i had great fish n chips for my brekkie and spend the day investigating the small fishing village and meeting more of the locals. Had a great day.
